Our family has been compelled to develop this channel based upon the recent trials of our country. Not only do we find ourselves in a world battling health and economic crises, but we have also seen the growth of strife and animus in our country and world. Whether the rancor is over political division, or differences in identity like race, gender, or creed, our country has approached a point of no return. To contend with these touchy subjects, the Family Standard points to a singular working theme. To always show G – R – A – C – E !!
Now our G R A C E theme is not to be confused with a family motto or cringy catch phrase. It is merely a way of categorizing our sermonettes, daily devotions, and application videos under one of five independent actionable verbs. To:
Grow: In the love of God for self and others
Restore: Reconcile family and friendship bonds that may need repair using love and forgiveness
Apply: Act! Decide to take action in your daily lives! It’s all ultimately up to you.
Commit: Go All In! Commit to change the way you approach life. Don’t just be a participant, but fully engage the journey.
Encourage: Please!! Don’t ever give up. There will ALWAYS be challenges. But remember we will be encouraging you every step of the way!!!
So what is our answer?? To build unity within the family unit by sharing the Gospel of Christ. Why?? We believe building unity and lovingkindness within the family unit will necessarily support the health of our local and regional communities, positively impact our society at large.
But why this new platform now? In addition to the challenges the world has faced, our family has dealt with some specific internal challenges, including our patriarch’s unexpected bout with Head and Neck Cancer. The surprising health development, while navigating a global pandemic, was indeed more than our family could bear, but we trusted faithfully in the Lord God’s deliverance. The cancer is now in remission and on track towards being cured, and for this we seek to share Christ’s message of forgiveness, joy, and peace.
Ultimately, we are an ordinary family struggling daily with various worldly issues. However, because we are Christian, we seek to understand our circumstances through the prism of Scripture, which informs how we address difficult subject matter. Understand, we will often stumble in our faith walk and certainly don’t have all the answers, but we know the Holy Scriptures do.
None of us are close to being perfect in following the wisdom of Scripture, as our flesh is in constant conflict with the Spirit. However, we never give up seeking to follow God’s Holy Word more closely because it brings clarity, truth, and wisdom. And while there will always be trouble in life, the Word of God is able to sustain and transform us.
